Hair Fair has come and gone, and I haven’t really taken photo. Most fashion blogs have covered it. A lot of L$ were raised for charity, hair was sold, drama was had, and lag, lots and lots of lag.

Then I sort of lost interest in SL lately, which is why the long hiatus. I was still around on plurk and all that, but just not logging in world.

Today, however, I got a moment of inspiration, so I logged in and made this:

The hair, not the top. The top is from The Sweetest Goodbye, a korean shop.

Hair is named after a character from a very cool online comic, Templar, Arizona

Tackling sculpties + Hair Fair 2008

What has the rattie been doing? Well, apart from checking out various games on Steam, I’ve been watching Zbrush tutorial videos. Zbrush is a 3D sculpting tool, which means I am truly trying to overcome my handicap here and actually make real sculpties.

I will be relaunching my design brand at some point, but not under the name Section 9. Section 9 has stagnated for too long, plus, it really narrows down the style, considering the name… I want to be able to just make what I want without feeling I have to fit in a theme.

So Section 9 is dead. Long live RATTUS

Yes, the hair I’ve made has got that brand on it already, so technically Rattus is live! See the first two offerings at Hair Fair 2008 where I’ll be in the Mirada booth, at the Rezzable Create sim, booth 27. I will give the demos to Washu so she can upload them to onrez with the rest of the Hair Fair style demos 24 hours before it starts. There will be a link to them here, of course.

Stay tuned with previews of my first fashion collection as I design it. I have the basic pieces sketched, my textures picked, I just need to figure out this sculpting thing!

Busy rattie is busy

The inestimable Washu Zebrastripe has offered me to debut my hair at Hair Fair in her booth. I flailed and squealed and said yes, and thus am now preparing stuff! I have made some new hair yesterday. Washu let me use her textures, but I think I want to try to make some of mine at some point.

Anyway! You will see 3 styles from me for sale at Hair Fair (4 if I get inspired) available in 6 colours: Black, Dark Brown, Red, White, Golden and Light Brown. No unnatural hair colours planned for now. Maybe a bonus one or something.

I need to think of a brand, because I think Section Nine is going to bite the dust. When I get around to it I’ll just repack everything as a discount bundle.

Also in planning - another Caledon Chessboard party. I have my own stream now, and I’m going to use it! Watch this space. The general blog one, not this post in particular.

ETA: Hair Fair starts on August 22nd!

Suffu stealth party!

I have been on the Suffu DJ group for quite a while, but have never actually made use of the powers that gives me. Well, no more! Yesterday I snuck into the basketball court, rezzed a deck, started playing and spammed my entire friends list with the SLURL.

It took a while, but people came! turns out I picked the worst time because 3/4 were at a wedding or other, another was at a staff meeting, there was a game of Cabeza Muerta in the Wastelands… but peo

Even if some decided to be wallflowers and shoegaze instead of playing vigorous dancing animations.

It was awesome. I just played whatever I wanted, making most of the playlist on the fly, instead of worrying about club rules, themes, trying to get tips from the gig. I think I’ll just do this Suffu stealth gig from time to time, and steer clear from clubs in SL. Clubs take themselves too seriously (staff meetings. For a virtual ‘for fun’ thing that can’t possibly make you any money, or even break even. Really.).

Despite my not rezzing a tip jar or asking for any (except once, jokingly), I still got some, which meant I could afford to buy myself a couch for my house yay! Then I was too tired to go to Fight Night.

Another thing - Lex Neva’s stream (the one used at Suffu) is about the only one I ever get smoothly and consistently. So yay for Suffugium!

There is a DJ gig every day at 6pm SLT there, btw. Not mine, but other very good people! So git your ass over thar!

Splodey heads at the Bog!

Having a place in Malady Bog now means I hang out there a lot more. I actually have my own personal unrelated circle of friends to hang out with, yay.

This is what we do:

Fight Night!

Just a quick note because somehow I forgot to write about this:

a) I got some land in the Wastes again! Stay tuned to hear about my new home which I am building in Malady Bog which should include room on stilts, pier lounge area and mini gallery.

b) I won 2nd place in Fight Night not 5 minutes after I made my comeback to the Wastelands by purchasing said Bog plot! Hurray!

Shoe Fair 08

4 sims of shoes, shoes, nothing but shoes. Start with Rezzable Create or Rezzable Explore and move to the others.

I have to admit I am not a big shoe fan in SL. As in RL, I much prefer going barefoot, my avatar having prim rat toes (of my own make) not being condusive to wearing dainty sandals. Most of the offerings are heels, with my much hated pointy toes. The only shoes I had that weren’t just texture were at first bought for me by Caledon Guv’ Desmond Shang.

I have two pairs of heels, both of them being discount round toe mary janes from ETD (25L a pair!) in black, and in red. My other shoes are boots, made by Gutterblood Spoonhammer whose boots I absolutely adore. They are also built for normal sized feet (my normal shape feet are size 20).

That said, shoe shopping is rather a girl bonding experience, which is how I found myself with Osiris Pfaltz, Roxette Wise and Willow Caldera at the shoe fair, pushin through the lag treacle!

There are a moment of joy as I saw the maker of THE shorts’, Gearshift’s, sign in the distance and ran over all joyful only to be greeted by this:

NO GEARSHIFT SHOES?!?!?!?! T_T

Apart from that, much fun was had, and I got two of the girls to show off their new acquisitions (unlike me, they DO love shoes…)

Then I was emergency teleported to Loco Pocos to help out with Japanese customers.

I will leave you with the immortal words of Kelly: “These shoes are mine BETCH!”

Those Pocos make me totally loco

I gave a grand tour of the place to blogger Sasy Scarborough yesterday to help her gather material and impressions about this sim and write her post about it, and she made a video!

I teared up for real. This is so wonderful.

Read her post!

Following is the official press release.

Loco Pocos!

A thing that happened concurrently with the launch of Codie’s sim (as shown in the two posts below), a less flamboyant but still rather momentous event took place: The pre-launch (for group members) of the sim and avatar line of LOCO POCOS, a new breed of tinies using sculpties, with a myriad of built in customisations and emotes & animations, all HUD-controlled.

Torley Linden already blogged very positively about these, and even participated in recording a second voice set for the avatars!

He also mentions the second part of this amazing creation. The sim itself, Loco Pocos Island, is an amazing build by itself, with the huge legendary tree as a centerpiece, and the pivot of a story! Or rather, stories. Right now there is only one to follow by hunting the various journals around the island, but there will be more in the future. Along with it are puzzle areas where you can win prizes, which serve to further customise your tiny avatar.
